My Brief Political History

Unsure, scared, excited, and overwhelmed I entered the City Hall last November to vote. Not just to exercise my right as a citizen of the United States but to exercise it for the first time. I felt empowered but nervous.

Having waited an entire year after my eighteenth birthday for the presidential elections to give my first vote I felt well prepared. I had studied, read as much as I could and watched as much as I could. And yet, when I stepped into that booth I knew nothing. Looking at the screen and reading those questions, questions I’d never been asked before, questions that required my opinion, I felt lost. There was no right or wrong answer there were just opinions. And I was confused because most of those questions I didn’t understand.

Fortunately, I joined this class and hopefully it will help me so that next time I am faced with those questions I can give my opinion, a well-informed and believed opinion.
